Billing, Refunds & Cancellation

Sonde Data · Last updated 14 July 2026

This page is a plain-English summary of how billing works on Sonde. It forms part of our Terms of Use; if anything here conflicts with the Terms, the Terms apply.

Plans

Free — no card required. Three company lookups in total (opening a company’s page uses one and unlocks that company in full, permanently), plus one watchlist of up to 10 companies.

Pro — a monthly subscription at the price shown at checkout (currently £39 per month, including VAT). Unlimited searches, full filing parsing, complete cap tables and dilution timelines, portfolio tracking and per-company CSV export.

How payment works

Pro is billed monthly in advance and renews automatically each month until you cancel. Payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe-hosted pages — we never see or store your card details. Your receipt for each payment comes by email.

No free trial

We do not offer a free trial of Pro. The Free plan is how you try Sonde: it gives you 3 company lookups in full detail, at no cost and with no card. When you subscribe to Pro your card is charged immediately and access starts straight away — the 14-day full refund below is what protects you instead of a trial period.

Cancelling Pro

You can cancel at any time — no notice period, no cancellation fee:

  1. Go to your account and click Cancel subscription; or
  2. Email support@sondedata.com and we will cancel it for you.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full Pro access until then, and no further payments are taken.

What happens after you cancel

Your account moves to the Free plan — it is not deleted. Companies you have already unlocked stay viewable, watchlist entries above the Free limit are kept (though you can’t add more), and CSV files you exported while subscribed remain yours to keep for internal use, under the data-use rules in the Terms of Use.

Refunds

We don’t refund the unused part of a billing period when you cancel — you keep access until the period ends instead. Beyond that:

  • Changed your mind after first subscribing? If you are a consumer, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the day you first subscribe. The law would let us deduct a charge for the days you had access — we don’t: cancel within those 14 days of your first subscription and we refund what you paid in full, with your Pro access ending when we do. If you subscribe again later, your statutory 14-day right still applies to that subscription — a refund less a proportionate charge for the days used, on request — but the automatic full refund is for your first subscription only.
  • If we withdraw the Service. If we permanently withdraw the paid Service, or remove a core paid feature in a way that materially reduces its value, we will refund a pro-rata portion of fees you have prepaid for the affected period.
  • Something gone wrong? If you think a charge is incorrect, or the Service hasn’t worked as it should, email support@sondedata.com and we will put it right. Nothing on this page affects your statutory rights.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it automatically over the following days, and you can update your card in Manage billing at any time. Your access continues during the retry period. If the payment still can’t be collected, your account moves to the Free plan.

Price changes

If we change the price of Pro, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email or in the Service. The new price applies only from your next renewal after that notice, and you can cancel before it takes effect if you don’t want to continue.

Closing your account

You can close your account entirely at any time from your account settings or by contacting support@sondedata.com. If you have an active subscription, cancel it first (or ask us to). For what happens to your personal data when your account closes, see our Privacy Notice.
