About Sonde
Why we built Sonde
The information investors need about private companies already exists. It's just scattered across sources, inconsistent from one company to the next, and often locked inside documents that were never meant to be read at scale.
Building a reliable picture of who owns what and how it got that way takes hours you don't have, and still leaves you unsure the numbers are right. Sonde exists to fix that: to organise company information into the views investors actually want and to present it so you can trust what you're looking at, with every figure traceable back to where it came from.
We know the problem well. We spent years making investment decisions from this data ourselves.
Our principles / 01
What we're stubborn about
Who uses Sonde / 02
Mostly investors, but not only.
The people it's built for
Investors use it most — diligencing a round and then keeping watch on it, with a current cap table, dilution to date and the shareholder list for any company we cover.
Your own position
The same structured record, turned inward — founders checking their own position and how the cap table has moved.
A source behind every line
Advisers who need a verifiable ownership picture — with a filing behind every figure they put their name to.
Before you depend on them
Anyone doing due diligence on a company they're about to depend on — a supplier, a partner, a counterparty.
Where we come from / 03
Built in Cambridge, from a
decade of doing this ourselves.
Sonde is built and operated in Cambridge by Syndicate Room, a fund manager that has spent over a decade turning UK company data into investment decisions — and Sonde is where that work becomes a tool anyone can use.
